Warm & welcoming engineered oak flooring

When Rebecca Taylor told her friend, Alison Flint, she wanted a new oak engineered floor for her Victorian home in Harrogate.

Alison immediately recommended Oak By Design, as she had just had her new flooring installed in a similar style of property, She was really pleased with it, as Oak By Design had also completed the installation.

Alison had chosen a herringbone pattern, but Rebecca wanted long planks. After an initial visit to the showroom, Richard, from Oak By Design, visited Rebecca and her husband at their beautiful period family home.

After discussing a number of options for colour, width and depth of board, they chose a board in ‘Tobacco’ from their Chateau range. The Chateau board has a smooth and sanded finish.

The board chosen by Rebecca and her husband was 225mm wide and, together with the long lengths of the boards (between 2200mm and 2400m), this suited the good proportions of the sitting room where it was to be installed.

All engineered oak flooring supplied by Oak By Design is made to order and there are a vast choice of textures, board widths and colours.

The boards offered came in a choice of 2 thicknesses; 15mm and 20mm.

The installation team returned five weeks later to install the 20mm flooring, which the team glued to the existing floor. Glueing the floor down ensures the floor feels strong and solid under foot.

An elegant painted skirting board was later added, which tied in beautifully with the existing elegant architrave and fabulous painted fitted bookcase.

A very pleased Rebecca said afterwards, ‘We are thrilled with the floor. It looks lovely and has been installed really well. We had one small snag and Richard came out immediately to address this. We have had a very positive experience’.
