The oak RSJ cover brief

It wasn’t until Jacky was in the midst of trying to resolve a conflict with the installer of her bi-fold doors when she noticed another problem. She knew RSJ steels were a requirement to ensure the recently built extension was structurally sound. However, boxing these with plasterboard would create an ugly ceiling shape; this was not what she wanted.

Adding some character was the key to finish off the light and airy kitchen. Therefore, after searching the world wide web, she discovered Oak By Design, an oak frame specialist who had the answer. The solution would be to add Oak Covers and 2 solid oak beams within the kitchen; these were the perfect addition for the fabulous kitchen extension/renovation.

Jacky knew exactly what she wanted and felt relieved when after speaking to Joanne, she realised she was dealing with a company who had her best interests at heart and wanted to help her achieve her wishes for her new kitchen.

Joanne supplied a quotation that Jacky accepted and between them agreed on a timescale for the completion.

As Jacky still had to await the removal of her problem bi-fold doors, the covers had to be fit after the replacement s fitted.

Whilst waiting for the start date for the oak RSJ covers and beams, Oak By Design sent Jacky photo’s of previous covers and beams supplied. Jacky, in turn, sent photos of beams she liked off Pinterest.

After a few emails, and a couple of samples of oak with choices of wax applied, sent to Jacky, the finishes she chose were: –

Light Shaping along the long edges and a Natural Wax for the covers and Softened Edges and a Natural Wax for the beams.

After manufacture, and approval by Jacky of photo’s sent, Palletline delivered the beams and oak RSJ covers to Jacky in Hampshire. Installation of the oak fireplace beams happened quickly but Jacky had to wait a while to fit the covers.

They were worth the wait though. As soon as the replacement of the bi-fold doors was complete, the covers could be fitted above them and throughout the new room.
