Oak RSJ Covers Required to Update The Room

Emma and Aidan Coverdale had previously used Oak By Design for an oak staircase, so when Emily wanted to fit oak RSJ Covers over the existing beams in her sitting room, she knew whom to contact.

After speaking to Joanne, she looked at the RSJ Cover Case Studies on the website and Joanne also sent a link to view the Oak By Design showroom in Tockwith Online

After doing both, Emma narrowed down the finish for the covers she wanted.

The finished external measurements of the covers was: 215mm on the sides, 255mm across the base, and 3620mm long.

Joanne arranged a quotation for the covers, which Emma accepted, and then also arranged a couple of oak samples with the colour choices Emma had picked.

These were a Fiddes light coloured wax in Natural and an Osmo oil in Raw.

Both these finishes are light in colour and very natural looking.

Emma also chose to have the edges of the covers slightly softened, to take the sharpness off them.

Emma ordered the covers in July and their joiner booked in for September.

She chose the Osmo oil in Raw for the finish.

The Installation of the Oak RSJ Covers

The covers were ready at the end of August and photo’s sent to Emma and Aidan who approved them.

Delivery was arranged to fit in with them and the joiner.

Not long after having the oak covers delivered, Emma sent photo’s of the covers installed. Her joiner had found them easy to install but they hadn’t realised just how heavy they would be.

Emma left a Google review saying:

“………..We received really good advice and pictures to help us choose the finish and the order delivered on time. The customer service and follow up was also very good.

The covers were simple to install but very heavy, so needed plenty of manpower. You can’t see the joints – very well crafted and lovely quality oak”.

The finished photo’s, above, show the oak beams looking as though they had always been in the property.

The photo's below show them prior to being covered.
