The brilliant addition of oak trusses completes this home

James Nimmo, the director of Harrogate based property development business, Nu Space Ltd, has been successfully completing property renovations for nearly 25 years. Oak trusses has helped him developed grade 2 listed refurbishments and new build homes using the latest construction techniques.

Over the years James has called on the manufacturing services of Oak By Design for most of the oak products required. These are used in the refurbishment of some of the period and characterful properties in James’ portfolio.

James has always known exactly what he is expecting to achieve. He had the vision to see the finished property right from the outset.

Oak By Design’s magnificent oak trusses, purlins, beams and RSJ covers feature throughout many of Nuspaces developments.

The oak trusses and beams are shown in the photo’s to highlight the impact the magnificent trusses have an in the open-plan rooms. This is especially noticeable in the kitchens where they take pride of place.

Ensuring the correct profile of timbers is crucial to creating the correct overall look of the oak trusses. Too large and they can look overbearing and overpowering. Too small and they can look spindly and ineffective.

The oak beams on the photos are shaped and brushed to achieve an aged look. They have had chunks taken out of them to replicate reclaimed beams and the wax colour has been chosen to look old.

Over the years Richard and James have worked together to ensure James achieves the look of the products he has required for his fabulous properties.

He is currently working on new build properties in the Harrogate area and Oak By Design’s porches will be gracing the entrances to these contemporary homes in the summer.
