Meet The Team

Building the quality and standards of Oak By Design has been my passion for several years now.

I have used my 25+ years of experience to help organically grow the company with Richard and the team creating high-end award-winning oak structures. Over the past years I progressed within the industry taking charge of projects including one of my proudest achievements in rebuilding Allerton Castle which was nearly destroyed due to a chimney fire.

I’m also proud of where Oak By Design is today, our quality and knowledge in my opinion is second to none.

During my spare time I enjoy time with the family, shooting, tennis, golf and cycling and the occasional glass of red. I also enjoy getting involved in charity events.

I liaise with clients, builders and architects who require glazed and open porches, trusses, sunrooms and all of our lovely oak products. Producing full quotations and drawings whilst providing great customer service

Within my role I also collate our photos and reviews for our social media platforms and also write case studies and articles for our website.

Married forever, I have 2 grown up daughters and I love to cook and bake and also enjoy entertaining or socialising with friends and family.
Living in the Yorkshire Dales, I enjoy going on beautiful walks with our 2 dogs but equally love a continental break!
Antique markets and auctions are also my interests alongside renovating our home.

When you call us here at Oak By Design, you may find I am the first person you will speak to and I will help with your enquiry.

My role includes designing, quoting and processing our clients porch, RSJ covers & beams enquiries and also providing help for any general enquiries which we may get whilst providing excellent customer service!
I also provide any help to my colleagues when needed.

Having recently moved near to the North Yorkshire Moors I am enjoying walking and exploring the area trying to find my bearings!
I like to read and cook and am also starting to enjoy a bit more gardening, when I'm not doing that I also like a nice meal out with friends and family.

I am proud to be a key member of Oak By Design and always there to support, guide and work with the team to produce the best quality oak products for our clients.

A key factor within my role is to ensure all of our hi-tech machines and equipment are running smoothly to ensure we are as efficient and timeframes are achieved.

I have a great eye for detail, quality controlling everything before it gets to your home.

Outside of work I love to be outdoors, enjoying the long mountain hikes in the countryside with the family and our dog Belle ending the walk with a nice meal and socialising with friends & family.

Using my years of experience within the manufacturing shop I enjoy not only the different high end products we design and build such as stunning oak stairs, oak doors, huge oak trusses etc I also enjoy training the young team, I provide training and guide them through each stage of their apprenticeship which hopefully shapes them up for many years to come.

I’m always on hand to help and advise the sales and management team with projects prior to and during production.

I love to travel and have been to many places, the hotter the better but myself and my wife also like to take the caravan touring around the UK.
Walking, cycling, sight-seeing and enjoying meals out and socialising with friends are just a few other interests I have.

I am experienced in the manufacturing of all of our oak products including glazed framework, trusses and porches.
I particularly enjoy manufacturing bespoke oak doors as they are all different in their own way and look amazing when installed.
Being methodical in the finishing of the products such as hand sanding and oiling means everything goes out of the workshop perfect!

My other key role within the manufacturing shop is to help maintain the machines and cleanliness in the workshop.

In my spare time I enjoy playing for the New Earswick All Blacks rugby team. I have played for them since I was 14.
Other interests include mountain biking, music festivals, watching and supporting Liverpool football club and a really good clothes shopping spree!

My role involves general machining of the oak for our projects along with producing our oak fireplace beams.
I help with the finishing of all projects and if you can’t find me sanding something I will be helping move things with the forklift!

Out of work I spend time with my family enjoying days out.
I also like to attend and watch motorcycle events and football.

As CNC operator I am responsible for the care and programming of our CNC machine which undertakes the projects using specific components of our products along with the fantastic engraving which makes our porches more personal.
I also manufacture and finish the oak porches and structures to our high standards.

I’m a big Liverpool FC supporter, I love to cheer them on with my friends, I also enjoy going out for good food and wine with my friends & family.

Having undertaken and completed my apprenticeship here at Oak By Design I am proficient in producing our oak products including glazed buildings, trusses and porches.
It is great to see a project all the way from just drawings to the fully finished product.
At the moment I am also being trained on the administration side of the production department.

Out of work I love catching up with friends and going visiting new places as well as attending the gym and of course watching football!

Having carried out most of my apprenticeship at York Minster I moved to and completed the final part at Oak By Design.

I love the variation of products which I now make from porches to doors and large grand design oak framed structures.

I am always on hand to assist any of my colleagues with their projects including the final finishing and assembly.

I have a passion for cooking. To relax I enjoy a good walk or hike along with playing snooker. Still yet to get a 147…

As the Installations Projects Manager, I oversee all our installation work and manage the team. We all take pride in our work to ensure the clients expectations are surpassed.
I liaise closely with our clients and site team to make sure the project is everything the client wanted and more on completion.

Away from work I love to get out on the golf course with friends and I also enjoy going to our retreat abroad with the family away from the rainy days of Yorkshire.

I very much enjoy my role here at Oak by Design and oversee all site projects and work with a fantastic team who take pride in their work. I have a vast amount of joinery knowledge both on the manufacturing side and installation.

I also work closely with the buying team to ensure materials are pre booked and on site for the team.

Out of hours I enjoy spending time with my family and walking our dogs.
I was fortunate enough to be part of the DIY SOS team with Nick Knowles on 2 occasions and hope to join another one of their challenges in the future with the support of Oak by Design.

I work with the installation team which includes the whole fitting process of our oak products such as framed buildings, porches, trusses and flooring and much more.

Part of my work also includes installation of the roof coverings, lead work and glazing.
No two days are the same, it is great to be involved with the whole installation from start to finish.

I am also working with the sales and marketing team to gain knowledge and progress with the company as is it continues to grow which is fantastic.

Out of work I enjoy playing tennis, darts & snooker and love going to support my local football team, Harrogate Town AFC.
I was fortunate enough to take time out for a full ski season in New Zealand and must say I’m probably the best snowboarder in Oak By Design……

Being on site for the installation of orangeries, buildings and porches gives variety.
One day I could be glazing a building or roofing it and the next I could be plastering.
No two days are the same!

In my spare time I am passionate about fishing and am a level 1 Angling Trust coach.
When the weather is nice I like to go golfing.
