An Oak Canopy Is Required To Finish The Front Of The Harrogate Home

In May 2021, local builder, Jack Stout contacted Joanne, at Oak By Design to ask them to contact his customers, Natasha and Matthew Gray. They needed a cantilevered oak canopy for their lovely, brick built, detached home in a village near Harrogate.

Jack has installed many porches (glazed and open), canopies and oak glazed frameworks for Oak By Design’s customers over the years.

Joanne spoke to Matt on the phone and ascertained their requirements. Natasha then sent a link off Oak By Design’s website which referenced an oak canopy that had been supplied to a customer in Clitheroe. She thought this would be very similar to what they wanted.

The canopy had to fit above the front door, which has lovely wide brick and stone steps leading up to it. However, a bay window to the right hand side, and a window to left hand side dictated the size.

Joanne sent them the Clitheroe’s porch drawing, showing all measurements and pitch to give them an idea of that particular one’s size. After looking at the drawing and measuring up, they decided that that would be perfect for theirs too!

Jack checked everything over and the order was placed ready for Jack to install at the end of September.

Natasha chose the Osmo Polyx UV oil in 429 – a natural oil. The canopy was to have a grey slate roof to match the adjoining bay window.

The side lights that were on the wall to either side of the door were removed and an overhead pendant light was installed.

Natasha and Matt also replaced the white, UPVC door with a coloured panelled one.

After the canopy had been made, delivered and installed, Natasha emailed Joanne to say “We love it. So happy, Jack was brilliant. Great attention to details. I would highly recommend you both”.

She also supplied a Facebook review, saying “So happy with our canopy from Oak By Design, beautiful wood and really good communication”.

We must admit, the canopy has finished off the front of the Gray’s home perfectly.
