What should I expect upon delivery of my goods?

Oak Porches & Small Frameworks

Your oak porch will be delivered on a pallet, either by our local delivery company (within 50 miles of York) or via the Nationwide Palletline System.

The goods will be wrapped and protected for its journey.

If the goods are delivered via the palletline system, some hubs insist on mechanical off-loading but we can check this prior to arranging the transport. All goods sent via the local delivery company mean the driver will be able to assist where they can.

The oak truss will be fully assembled, with all other components loose and ready to install.

All the components will be labelled for easy identification and there is no need to trim, sand or alter the oak in any way. Accompanying the porch will be the following:

1 x Full Fixing Kit – comprising of oak pellets, oak dowels, spare oil, full working drawings and fixing bolts.

Larger Goods (Buildings, Roofing & Structures)

Larger goods can be delivered the same way as an oak porch (see above).

The criteria that may change this is (a) the maximum length of oak to be transported, (b) the total weight, and (c) any glazing that may be needed.

Most of the components that make up an oak building have already been assembled in our workshop. This ensures everything fits as it should. The components are packaged flat and are fully labelled for easy identification upon arrival.

Please note that on larger projects, the weight of some oak beams means either mechanical off-loading is required or several able bodied people will be required to help.

The same working drawings, oak dowels, spare oil and instructions are also included with the delivery.

External Oak Doors

Single Solid (& Glazed) Oak Doors & Patio Doors

Your oak doors will be bubble wrapped during their journey.

The door will be pre-glazed (if glazed), pre-finished and pre-hung in a matching oak frame (if required).

The door will have a multipoint locking system and it will be supplied in the locked position. We place the key(s) on the outside of the door frame.

The door(s) will be heavy (circa up to 90kgs) and will require some able bodied people to unload.

Bi-Fold Doors

These are transported as individual doors. They have their associated ironmongery already attached. The frame is supplied in an easy to assemble kit form, ready to hang the doors in place.

Oak Staircases

Due to the finished dimensions of an oak staircase, all components are individually packed and labelled.

Smaller items, such as spindles, hand rails and base rails are collected together.

Individual flights, albeit full length or half lengths are assembled and transported as whole items.

Oak Covers

All oak covers are pre-finished in a choice of oil or wax and bubbled wrapped while being transported.

These are relatively light compared to a solid beam and can be manoeuvred by one or two people.

All covers come with a fixing kit and instructions.

Oak Flooring

Oak flooring is always delivered on a pallet.

On each pallet, there will be manageable packs of flooring of approximately 1.5-2.2 square metres.

The maximum pack length will be 2400mm and the weight will be about 15-20 kg.

Please check all packs for damage. If there is any damage, please follow this procedure.

Larger quantities of flooring (80+ square metres) would be easier to unload using a mechanical device (forklift, manitou, genie lift).

If you have ordered flooring adhesive, mop kits or accessories, these may arrive on a separate delivery.
